St Tropez shouldn’t only be thought of as the honey pot of glitz and glamour. The little lanes around the villages and down to the beaches which made it so famous intersect vineyards keeping the “presqu’île” alive and verdant and remarkably unspoilt. The vendage is as important here as it is in Bordeaux. Venture up into the hills behind and explore the medieval hilltop villages of Grimaud, Gassin and Ramatuelle, all with their own unique characters alive with galleries and quaint village squares, cafes and restaurants. A little further inland but still only a fifteen minute drive down to the coast with spectacular views of the Gulf of St. Tropez is the village of La Garde Freinet.
