Cephalonia is the largest of the Ionian Islands and one of the most ruggedly beautiful and dramatic. It has fine beaches (one of which, Myrtos, is perhaps the most dramatic in all of Greece), two of the Country’s loveliest caves, lofty fir forests, splendid views and the distinctive lemony dry white wine, Robola, – a great island for a holiday!

Set in the middle of a private olive estate belonging to one of the oldest and most influential families on Cephalonia, The Olive Grove sits elegantly overlooking the undulating valleys of olive groves down to the sparkling Ionian Sea.  Here you will find total seclusion and privacy.  The current member of this illustrious Greek family, an ambassador and his wife, have created a pretty, ‘barefoot chic’ rural retreat on the edge of their estate exclusively for guests and discerning travellers.

Only 12 km from the Island’s capital Argostoli, 2 km from the Castello di San Giorgio and 900 metres to the sea (Trapekazi Beach is walking distance), the house was recently built to modern specifications but as a traditional Cephalonian style manor house using, where possible, original features including the terracotta roof made out of old tiles.

Elegantly furnished throughout, the fresh and light interior enhances the owner’s personal collection of art and antiques. The large Tuscan-style swimming pool extends right into the terrace and, together with the beautiful garden and lush greenery that surrounds it, provides a frame for the natural beauty of the place.

This villa is, according to the owner, the only one on the island with an in-house cook. Yolanda has been at the villa for 8 years now and is a really excellent chef.  As  a result, this is a top culinary and wine tasting destination. Along with the gourmet meals prepared in-house, there is a selection of extremely good local wines available from the Estate cellar which has been created over the years.

Included:

  • Staff of two (cook-chef and daily maid) including shopping service* and laundry of guest’s clothes (5kg x 1) in July & August
  • Breakfast and one main meal per day up to 6 days a week (of which up to 4-5 meals can be dinners) in July & August.
  • Breakfast only for 6 days per week at other times of the year
  • Team of gardeners once a week and daily pool maintenance

At extra charge:

  • *Shopping service extra €200 per week

  •  Babysitting – the housekeeper happily babysits for a fee

A 45 feet motor yacht (2 Volvo D9 engines 575HP each) carrying up to 10 passengers around the northern coast of Cephalonia and the neighbouring  islands (Ithaca, Lefkas, etc.)

Things to Do:

Hire a Car – Enjoy unforgettable day trips to beautiful beaches or to one of the many small villages (each with its own unique history and character) the island has to offer.

Visit Cephalonian vineyards and taste the finest local wines. Grape cultivation for wine on the island is approximately 3,500 years old!

Boat Charter – What better way to explore the island by sea.  There are many spectacular and secluded beaches which are unreachable by car.

In addition to the above, the manager can arrange for guests to enjoy various other activities such as a cruise around the islands of the Aegean or Ionian Sea, hiking, water skiing, jet skiing, kayaking, snorkelling and in-house massages.

Location

By Car and Ferry boat: 

Coming from Athens, take the highway to Patras. When in Patras go to the port and take the ferry-boat to Cephalonia (port of Sami).

By Air:

From Athens Airport to the Airport of Cephalonia. There are also charter flights from UK airports to Cephalonia. The Villa Manager arranges for your transfers to and from the airport.
