The family-owned vineyards (the vineyard label shows the original Mas as painted by Van Gogh for the current owner’s Great Grand Father) is the setting for this large comfortable house, built on a slight incline just above the vineyards. The house, terraces and large lawned garden are all positioned to enjoy a view which can only be Provençal. Here are the rugged mountains of Les Alpilles and, on a rocky outcrop crowned with a ruined castle overlooking the plains to the south, is one of the most picturesque villages of France – Les Baux-de-Provence. At night the floodlit village makes a stunning backdrop to dinner on the terrace or a late night dip in the pool.
St Rémy-de-Provence is a short five kilometre drive down country lanes. It is an elegant market town with plenty of restaurants, cafés in shaded boulevards and fountain-filled squares. You will find many galleries and studios along with stylish as well as typical Provençal shops making this a very pleasant place to while away a few hours. Or, if you fancy lunch on a beach, the Camargue and sea is a forty minute drive.
