Description

Andalućia, full of character, warmth, colours and ambience – the true Spain. We are thrilled to take on this delightful cortijo in the countryside just outside Ronda.  The house looks over the Grazalema National Park and is close to all the cultural jewels and traditional activities of Andalućia;  the sherry houses and Royal riding school of Jerez, the proud heritage and ritual of the bull fights, the wonderful ferias and solemn Semana Santa parades of Seville, there is just loads for everyone to enjoy.

Surrounded by 14 acres of gardens and fruit trees, this fabulous house has a shady colonnade on one side and a very private courtyard with trees and fountains on other.   There are three exterior dining areas all seating 12 – under the colonnade, in the courtyard  (along with a comfy seating area) and up at the pool.

The pool garden is set slightly apart from the house with shower/WC, bar, kitchen and dining facilities and masses of sun beds and shady hammocks for the inevitable siesta.

La Hacienda sleeps up to twelve people in seven bedrooms – all with ceiling fans which keep the rooms lovely and cool in the summer so long as guests do what the Spanish do i.e. close the shutters in the heat of the day!    The living areas and bedrooms decorated in pale shades of cream, white and beige are transformed in winter by log fires and underfloor heating. Deep sofas, books and peace and tranquillity make this a very special place to stay with either family or a group of friends.

This is a little piece of paradise tucked away in the hills.  A place to enjoy the peace and tranquility of southern Spain and a base for adventures beyond.

What to do in the area:

There is so much to do – from visits to Ronda, Jerez, Seville, Granada, a day trip to Morocco, to the coast or nearby lakes, or to the pueblos blancos (white villages) which are found in this part of Spain.

Activities
We can help arrange horseriding, golf, tennis, walks and picnics, 4×4 off road tours, bird watching walks, hot air ballooning and many more things …..please just ask before you go and we can investigate and give you the various options.

Spectator Events
Whilst some people will be fascinated by bullfighting it’s obviously not for everyone but a visit to the bullring in Ronda is still a must to see the empty ring and have a tour. You can visit a bull breeding farm, visit a local bodega, go to a poncho factory, watch olive oil being pressed and even have a flamenco evening arranged at the house.

Restaurants
Plenty of very typical Spanish restaurants in Ronda and, of course, tapas bars plus the truly first class Bardal.   We can recommend restaurants to suit your taste and style.

Andalucian diary
The Ronda festival in early September with its accompanying parades and bull fights is a big event in the area….but each nearby town has its equivalent if smaller ‘feria’.

Coast(s)
The sea is an hour’s drive away. Markets, beaches. water parks, shopping and all the things you’d expect from Spain’s most popular coastal strip. Marbella is  45 minutes away down the mountain.
