La F, Lagrasse, Corbieres, Languedoc

Sleeps 14

£5,000 - £16,000 per week

La F is a really special house which has been converted from an old Corbières wine store and is set in 120 acres in one of the most beautiful valleys in the Languedoc.  The surrounding area is real, unspoilt France and offers a wealth of activities, sparkling Mediterranean beaches and the Pyrenees are close-by. Bags down, pour a glass, relax – you’re here. This is simple luxury in real France; do everything or nothing.

The house has been beautifully designed to incorporate both a contemporary look with beautiful antique pieces. The rooms are large and airy and the main reception area has a double height ceiling. However, despite the feeling of space, the house is warm and welcoming and there are a myriad of cosy corners to sit and relax. Underfloor heating and open fires make this a wonderful place to stay during the autumn and winter months.

The living space in the main house runs the full length of the building, from the grandeur of the Salle des Fêtes and the intimacy of the bar, to the open plan, professional kitchen and the comfort of the fumoir cinema space.

Upstairs are four bedrooms with beamed ceilings and en-suite marble bathrooms. Two have baths and all have walk-in showers. The bedrooms are situated around a dramatic atrium, from which the staircase sweeps to the main floor living space.

The other two bedrooms are located in the garden wing by the pool.  Here there is a less formal sitting room which also acts as a games room or a luxurious, casual snug to get away from the crowd.   All bedrooms have satellite television and DVD players.

Outside are landscaped gardens incorporating an all weather tennis court, a large swimming pool and a sheltered courtyard.  There are a variety of terraces surrounding the house providing plenty of options for outdoor living and dining.

There is a further two bedroomed flat off the courtyard that is suitable for extra guests.  Early in 2019 interior designer, Samantha Todhunter, came out to do a makeover of this apartment and the rooms now look absolutely stunning.

What Sarah thinks:

“A great, tried and tested house for a holiday with family or friends. Loads to see and do, this is your very own private boutique hotel….I stayed in the pretty bedroom with green striped curtains which had fabulous views.”

Client Reviews:

“A top-to-toe renovation and several years of happy family holidays later, the once termite-infested barn is now one of the most remarkable villas in this part of France. Interiors by London-based designer Samantha Todhunter strike that elusive balance between homeliness and grandeur.”  May 2019 – Sarah Royce-Greensill from the Telegraph
